Island Heritage Stingrays crowned themselves double champions in the Women League yesterday at the John A Cumber School ground. In front of an appreciative crowd of supporters which included Island Heritage representative Monique Bush, national and local men cricketers, Stingrays led by Beverly Watson defeated Greenies in the T/20 tournament. The sun came out in its brilliance after a rainy Saturday and with it some outstanding cricket as the women showed their development was on the right track.
Greenies won the toss and leading women cricketer Carmel Harms displayed a wide range of strokes making 73n.o of 56 balls with 9 fours and 1 glorious six into the school yard. Greenies made 114 for 2 wickets. Island Heritage Stingrays Rosemarie Wilson came out blazing scoring 39n.o with 4 fours and 1 six. She was well supported by Pamela Martin 17 and Natasha Roberts 18. Although Carmel Harms picked up for a second time 2 wicket in two balls there was no stopping Island Heritage Stingrays. They won by 7 wickets. Congratulations to the Islands Heritage Stingrays playing undefeated throughout another season!
Greenies Too went for gold against Oneness and achieved 336 runs for 7 wickets, the highest total for the season. Oneness had no answer to David McGrath slow stuff as he picked up 5 wickets for 6 runs.
