In Division 1 cricket action over the weekend, By Rite CC rejoined Prison CC at the top. Playing at JP Oval, By Rite had good high order contributions from Adrian Wright 58 and Garfield Edwards 52 and now famous late order rush from Michael Wight and Conroy Wright to total 209 against LIME Schools. Corey Cato was the pick of the LIME Schools bowlers and was well supported by Marlon Bryan and Kervin Ebanks. Marc Chin scored a career best 77 in Schools reply but By Rite captain Conroy Wright and Sylvester Suberan took 3 wickets each to lead By Rite to victory by 44 runs.
Cayman cricket was happy to welcome home two of our talented young cricketers Joseph Kirkconnell (By Rite) and Ramon Sealy (LIME Schools) who are back on school break.
Over at the Smith Road Oval, Greenies 1 limited Police to 168 for 9 wickets with Garth Bryan 35 the leading scorer. In turn Greenies 1 captain Tom Stephens 65n.o and Michael Reid 36 secured victory by 4 wickets.
JJ”S ran merry at the JP Oval on Saturday scoring 374 runs for 3 wickets against Oneness winning by a massive 249 runs in Division 2. Devon Williams 127, Garth Bryan 98n.o and Kerniel Coley 83 were outstanding. Oneness had no answer for Garth Bryan as he bowled his team to victory by taking 6 wickets.
UCCI/West Bay easily defeated Wellys/Cayman Doors by 8 wickets. Having restricted their opponents to 107, Clevon Sailsman 40n.o and Garfield Edwards 31n.o lead UCCI/West Bay to victory by 8 wickets.
The extremely colorful Women League began on Sunday with defending champions Stingrays beginning the 2010 campaign in style by defeating new comers Motown by 10 wickets at the John A Cumber School ground. Batting first Motown had good contributions from Ann Warren 57 and Paulette Robinson 42 achieving a total of 158 runs for 2 wickets. Stingrays’ batters had other ideas with Pam Martin 55n.o and Rosemarie Wilson 42n.o securing a 10 wickets victory.
