
By Rite joins Prison at the top
A decisive victory over Police enabled By Rite to join Division 1 leaders Prison at the top. Two outstanding performances one with the bat from Omar Willis and the other with the ball from Garfield Edwards propelled By Rite to a 26 runs victory over Police. Batting first By Rite got useful contributions from Michael Wight, Conroy Wright and Kenute Tulloch but it was the batting of Omar Willis which caught the imagination of the spectators. Willis joined Wight with By Rite in a bit of trouble and they combined well running between the wickets in a partnership worth 63 runs. Willis was not out on 56 when By Rite innings closed at 210 for 7 wickets.
In reply Police got good contributions from Abali Hoilett, Ryan Bovell and Pearson Best but fell short by 26 runs. Garfield Edwards 5 wickets haul ensured that By Rite continue its winning ways.
Over at Smith Road Oval, Greenies 1 entered the 2010 winners’ row with a strong display over ESSO Tigers. Franklin Hinds 68 and Josh brown 51 formed the foundation in Greenies 1 getting to 194 for 4 wickets. However it was Michael Reid 5 wickets for 27 which was the deciding factor. Devon Williams 36 and Anthony Higgins 33n.o brought Esso Tigers within striking distance but Greenies kept their cool and won by 6 runs.
In Division 2 at the Smith Road Oval, Paramount DTA was in a destructive mode limiting Greenies Too to 138 and knocking off the score in only 17 overs. Leading the way was Lawrence McIntosh with 66 and Victor Campbell 52n.o. At the Jimmy Powell Oval UCCI/West Bay had a nail biting finish defeating Chillies in the last over by 1 wicket.
