Michael Wight Spins BY RITE to Victory

Michael Wight produced his best bowling spell and spun Creighton Properties Ltd By Rite to a Valentine Day victory against Greenies 1 at the Smith Road Oval. At least so it seemed! Coming on from the Smith Road End and bowling unchanged Wight bowled 8 overs for a measly 15 runs and captured 6 wickets. Greenies 1 got off to a productive start of 59 runs with new opener Andrew Ledger and Ian Rotsey combining well and seeing off the By Rite pace of Kenute Tulloch and Conroy Wright. Both batsmen with Michael Reid got to their thirties and Greenies 1 made a competitive total of 159 runs.

The drama began when By Rite batted as they were down 6 wickets for 67 runs. Solid contributions from Zitroy Robertson, Captain Conroy Wright and George Hudson took By Rite to 134 runs. The drama continued with By Rite’s last pair of Kenute Tulloch and Stedman Gray requiring 30 runs for an incredible victory. Scoring 12 runs each the last pair continued By Rite’s last pair victories for the second time in two matches.

In Division 2 ESSO Cubs defeated Wellys/Cayman Doors by 8 wickets. Outstanding for ESSO Cubs were Tony Higgins, Kervin Ebanks, Sacha De Alvis and Paul Chin. At the Smith Road Oval another Franklin Hinds show of 4 wickets and 58n.o took JJ’S to victory over Greenies TOO. Hinds got good support from Kerniel Coley who batted well for a JJ’S half century.
