SECONDARY SCHOOLS CRICKET REPORT

Secondary Schools U/17 League

Six teams are competing for the Secondary Schools U/17 Cricket League championships and from the three matches played so far its going to be a very keenly contested year at this level. The teams are John Gray High Schools houses Marlin, Wahoo, Dolphin, Tarpon, Cayman Prep and Triple C.

Leading the runs makers are Franklin Hinds jnr. and Shane Cato both of Team Marlin. Matches are being played at the George Hicks Campus ground and Smith Road Oval.

DOLPHIN V MARLIN

In the opening game of the 2010 CICA Under 17 cricket competition, Dolphin house took on Marlin at the George Hicks Campus.

Batting first, Dolphin scored 215 for one wicket from 18 overs led by Franklin Hinds (80 runs) and Shane Cato (62 runs). Jemeal Welcome was the only successful Marlin bowler with one wicket for 36 runs.

In reply, Marlin could only muster 78 runs with Brandon Richards top scoring with 16 runs. Andre Douglas was the pick of the bowlers taking five (5) wickets for 29 runs.

RESULT: DOLPHIN WON BY 137 RUNS

TARPON V WAHOO

Tarpon batted first and scored 106 for 6 from 20 overs.

In reply Wahoo lost wickets steadily and were in a spot of bother at 30 runs for 5 wickets, but David Feare (41) runs and Tavaughan Scott (37 runs) held the Wahoo middle order together in a half century match winning partnership that saw Wahoo reach the winning target in the last over for the loss of 6 wickets.

RESULT: WAHOO WON BY 4 WICKETS

TARPON V DOLPHIN

In the third game of the 2010 CICA Under 17 cricket competition, Dolphin played Tarpon at Smith Road Oval.

Dolphin took first knock and amassed the imposing total of 150 without loss in 19 overs. Franklin Hinds continued his good form top-scoring with an innings of 63 runs that included six fours and two sixes.

Tarpon’s reply was led by a responsible attacking innings by Levar Wood who top scored with 44 runs and with able assistance from Rohan Alveranga 21 runs and Adam Watler 26 runs mounted a serious challenge in chase of the seemingly daunting total.

Their valiant efforts were to be in vain though as they fell 15 runs short of their target scoring 135 for two of their allotted 19 overs.

RESULT: DOLPHIN WON BY 15 RUNS
