
Bowlers Dominate
Bowlers in the CICA cricket competitions are enjoying the early start to the season as they dominated the second round of matches played in both divisions. In Division 1 Prison defeated Police in a low scoring match. Kevon Bazil led the way with 4 wickets aided by Captain Saheed Mohamed who took 2 wickets. Mohamed returned with the bat to score 40 runs and together with seasoned campaigner Steve Gordon 35n.o took Prison to a 6 wickets victory.
At the Smith Road Oval a nail biting finish with both spectators and players screaming advice, George Hudson hit the winning runs taking By Rite to victory by 1 wicket with 2 balls remaining over Esso Tigers. It was a up and down match as first By Rite led by Kenute Tulloch 3 wickets and Conroy Wright 2 reduced Esso Tigers to 7 wickets for 40 runs before a rear guard action by Robert Moore 40 and Victor Campbell 27 took Esso Tigers to 137. At 5 wickets down for 62 runs By Rite was at the receiving end before Zitroy Robinson 20, Leon Watson 24 and Omar Bryan 27 took By Rite to within 8 runs of victory. It was left to Hudson to win the match.
In Division 2, defending champions Esso Cubs was taken to the wire by Greenies Too. Having made a small score of 92 runs in 24 overs, Greenies Too bowlers made the Cubs work for every run eventually going down by 2 wickets.
JJ”S Franklin Hinds made Paramount DTA pay dearly for giving him 2 let offs as he plundered 78 runs with 5 sixes. Paramount DTA set JJ”S a challenging total with Victor Campbell scoring 67 runs. It was not enough. JJ”S won by 7 wickets.
