CICA 2009 season first tournament was completed on Sunday with champions determined in the CLICO Cayman 20/20 Division 1. Having crowned winners in Division 2 one week ago when ESSO Cubs defeated Paramount DTA, cricket fans were out in their numbers for the big one.

Saheed Mohamed scores the season first hundred (140) and sets the tone in the first round matches of the CLICO Cayman Division 1. In a weekend that produced some remarkable performances, Saheed hundred which contain 5 sixes and 10 fours top the list.

Greenies 1 had an exciting 3 runs victory over LIME Schools in the CLICO Cayman Division 1 League match at Jimmy Powell Oval. Requiring 14 runs from 12 balls LIME Schools could only muster 11 runs in a nail biting finish to an absorbing day’s play.

Kevon Bazil produced the most incisive bowling display seen in the Cayman Islands in many years as the CLICO CAYMAN Division 1 League continued at both venues over the weekend.

ESSO Cubs claimed the first cricket trophy by defeating Paramount DTA in the CLICO Cayman 20/20 Division 2. Having restricted Paramount DTA to 86 runs, the Cubs made small work of the final winning by 6 wickets. Bowling for the ESSO Cubs, Ricardo Roach, Corey Cato and Omar Willis took 2 wickets each.

CLICO Cayman 20/20 competitions are heading for another season of exciting finishes in both divisions. After some thrills and last over wins in determining who has mastered the art of the shortest format of the game, this weekend will feature those who have survived.
