ICC Development Performance Officer – Americas



A. ROLE DESCRIPTION

This role is an important operational position responsible for the management, planning and implementation of a range of programs aimed at assisting the continued growth, development and improvement of cricket within the 17 Member Countries of the ICC Americas Region.

Ares of focus include elite cricket education (including player and coach development), the implementation of advanced development pathways/structures from junior to elite level, managing targeted performance through country development plans.

All programs have long term/sustainable objectives, and are managed at a local level by the cricket populations of the countries involved:

Associate Members (5): Argentina, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, USA.
Affiliate Members (12) : Bahamas, Belize, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Falkland Islands, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Suriname,
                                        Turks & Caicos.

B. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. High Performance / Elite Development

  • 1.1 In conjunction with National Country Boards/Associations and the ICC High Performance Manager (where applicable), assist in developing, preparing and supporting National Team programmes including , senior , junior, men’s and women’s This includes tournament participation, tours, academy placements, and overseas placements.
  • 1.2 Coordinate a database of high performance centres/academies globally for access by regional countries in the ICC High Performance Programme and World Cricket League, and relevant information on each.
  • 1.3 Monitor performance and continually educate national coaches at each level in Americas member countries.
  • 1.4 In conjunction with National Boards, monitor processes for appointment of national coaches for international tournaments and events.
  • 1.5 Monitor, and educate on ‘best practice’ processes implemented for selection of national squads/teams.
  • 1.6 Support the planning and coordination of national squad training camps in more developed countries. Give selection recommendations where required, and report to National Board on progress of squad – in conjunction with national coach.
  • 1.7 Work closely with all regional countries to assist in the development of country academies and coaching projects.
  • 1.8 In consultation with the Regional Umpires Manager, oversee the selection of the Americas panel of umpires.
  • 1.9 Coordinate a database of high performance centres/academies globally for access by regional countries in the ICC High Performance Programme and World Cricket League, and relevant information on each.
  • 1.10 In consultation with the ICC High Performance Manager assist with the implementation and operation of the membership programs


2. Governance and Administration

  • 2.1 Assist in developing and preparing programs for all countries in the Americas to improve and/or establish advanced development pathways, from junior involvement to junior/youth playing to senior playing, and to national team level for Affiliate Members.
    • Oversee all requests regarding player development, elite national team programs, facility improvement and equipment at a high performance level.
    • Assisting in preparing and managing budget for above.
  • 2.2 Maintain coordinated and productive working relationships with national cricket bodies of regional countries in regard to all aspects of the job description.
  • 2.3 Undertake research activities in various aspects of the job description, as instructed, and consequently prepare strategic documents addressing future delivery/activity of same for the benefit of cricket development in America.
  • 2.4 Assist Regional Development Manager (RDM) however required in implementing all other aspects of the Americas Development Programme.
  • 2.5 Consult with, and report quarterly to, the RDM on all of above, as required.


3. Education

  • 3.1 To assist the RDO, when required, on all areas of cricket education, particularly those at a High Performance level.
  • 3.2 Assist with the CAP Programme.
  • 3.3 In consultation with the RDO oversee and assist with the planning of seminars – coaching, umpiring, curator and scoring at a High Performance level..


4. Event Management

  • 4.1 Responsible as Tournament Event Manager at some ICC Americas events, to ensure all ICC requirements are met. These include eligibility, playing rules and conditions, player code of conduct and umpires and scorers assignments.
  • 4.2 Ensure the costs for events are maintained as per budgeted.
  • 4.3 Assist with the daily press releases of events and to provide tournament stats to be complied and kept as a permanent record.
  • 4.4 Assist in the planning and delivery of annual ICC Americas Development Forum.


5. General

  • 5.1 Reporting – ICC Regional Development Manager – Americas
  • 5.2 Performance Review – Annually
  • 5.3 Location - Americas Region -To be determined
  • 5.4 Work Related Travel – Cost of extensive work related travel to be borne by the ICC.
  • 5.5 Resources – Will be provided with a mobile phone and a lap top Computer.
  • 5.6 Holidays - 25 days annually plus public holidays

C. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Very good understanding of pathways/structures and high performance programmes.
  • Minimum Level 2 Coaching Certificate at an International Level
  • Playing or coaching experience at an International Level.
  • Experience in cricket development at a country level
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Communication skills – oral and written
  • PC skills – working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good project management including financial management skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Previous experience working with other cultures.
  • Relevant tertiary education qualification.
